Glendon F. Arthur was born in Cave Hill, St. Michael Barbados. He attended Montgomery Boys School, then St. Leonard's High. At the early age of seventeen Glendon joined a German shipping company that transported fruit from some of the Islands to Baton Rouge, LA. For seven years he worked for various shipping companies.
In 1971 Glendon decided to take a vacation to Brooklyn, New York to visit some friends that he had not seen for a long time, and he never got to see Barbados again until 1975 while in the process of becoming a resident of the United States.
In November of 1976 Glendon started what would be a long career in the hospitality industry, in which he held different positions in management.
Glendon: "Writing poetry for me started as a hobby. After joining different yahoo groups and really getting into the swing of things, I started to read a lot more and got more information and studied the moods and feelings of the people that would respond to the messages that were posted. The response was great and it encouraged me to write more and more. It's mostly about trying to cheer people up who are sad and lonely." |
